Born in 71 in gascony (and still a fan of Fiestas and Armagnac), I'm the founder and only member of the Goomi Studio, a totaly informal entity spreading through the Web... Real Name: François Launet; I live in Paris and work as a computer artist in the French company Mac Guff Ligne. I studied art for 4 years in Toulouse (and discovered I didn't fit very well in "conceptual" art), and Computer Graphic at the CNBDI (Angoulême), where I realised 2 CG movies. I've been working in the digital imagery since 1994, as a MPCGA (multi-purpose CG artist: design, modeling, compositing, and project management) . I also try to be a painter, designer, and sometimes, an illustrator. Most of my commercial works can be found here.

Many ask where this 'Goomi' nickname comes from... It's a deformation of the 'gomi' or 'gumi' japanese word, meaning garbage. I saw once a movie about japanese town built on the garbage (gumi)  thrown in the sea to increase space. I found this concept (to grow on his own trash) very pleasant, and  used the word (slightly changed) as a 'loggin' name ('françois' is quite long to type...) at MacGuff Ligne, where it quickly became a (ridiculous) nickname.

Né en 71 en gascogne, j'en ai gardé un gout certain pour le confit, l'Armagnac et les ferias; je suis le fondateur et unique membre du Goomi Studio, entité informelle qui se repand au travers du WWWeb. De mon vrai nom François Launet, je vis a Paris et travaille comme graphiste au sein de Mac Guff Ligne, société d'effets spéciaux numérique française. J'ai étudié pendant 4 ans aux Beaux arts de Toulouse (et ai découvert que je n'étais pas vrai,ent adapté au monde de l'art conceptuel, puis au CNBDI, à Angouleme dans une classe d'images de synthese. Je travaille dans le milieu de la synthèse depuis près de 6 ans, en tant que graphiste tout terrain: design, modelisation, rendu, compositing et gestion de projet. J'essai aussi de peindre, et de travailler comme designer et illustrateur (la plupart de mes travaux commerciaux sont sur ce site).

Le surnom Goomi (ridicule, j'en convient) vient d'un reportage qui m'avait fasciné, au sujet des villes japonaises baties sur du 'gumi' (ou 'gomi'), les ordures en japonais. Jetées dans la mer, elle servent a créer des presqu'iles artificielles pour palier au manque d'espace. Le concept m'ayant particulièrement plu, j'ai usé de 'goomi' comme nom de loggin a Mac Guff (francois etant assez long a taper...). C'est rapidement devenue un surnom que j'assume tant bien que mal.
